Online farmers market 100 Mile Markets opens Norwalk pickup spots

NORWALK – 100 Mile Market brings the farmers market experience to people’s homes.

Founded by a group of four environmental enthusiasts, including Norwalk resident Elise Gilchrist, the company operates as an online farmers market with new locations in the East and South Norwalk.

Customers can buy bundles or specific items online and pick up the items later in the week at one of the two Norwalk stores. Everything is brought within 100 miles of the pickup point, Gilchrist said.

“The idea is that we go into the region and find small farmers, butchers, food businesses, who make great granolas, salsas, pasta sauces, and put them on an easy-to-use website,” Gilchrist said. “We have great local food, great quality, healthy. People want to have it, but it can be hard to find unless you take the time to do it at the local farmers market.”

100 Mile Markets eliminates the need to go to local farmers markets, instead giving local residents access to produce on their own time, Gilchrist said.
