Empower Clinics Announces Partnership with Specialty Networks of North America to Serve Underserved Communities Across U.S.

The partnership aims to bring access to quality and affordable healthcare to patients in need.

VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / December 7, 2022 / EMPOWER CLINICS INC (CSE:EPW)(OTCQB:EPWCF) (“Strengthen“or”Company“) an integrated healthcare company – serving patients through medical centers, a medical equipment company and a complex medical testing laboratory – today announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Specialty Network of North America Inc. (SNNA) to launch a health care network whose mission is to bring access to health and affordable services to underserved communities throughout the US.

Tens of millions of people live in areas of the US that have inadequate health care. 65 million people live in areas without adequate primary care designated by the US federal government. According to the US Census Bureau in 2021, 8.3 percent of people, or 27.2 million, did not have health insurance at any time during the year. Research also shows that more than two out of five or 43% of US adults of working age do not have enough insurance. About 70 million Americans are uninsured or underinsured.

SNNA aims to:

  • Launch the first pilot to provide specialized heart disease screening services to an underserved community expected to be in Pittsburgh, PA for Q1 2023.
  • Use Empower’s diagnostics division Medisure Laboratory to complete diagnostic testing services and perform laboratory panels and tests.
  • Start a second trial of specialized heart disease screening services in an underserved community expected in Dallas, TX for the first half of 2023.
  • Check out the addition of other specialized diagnostic services for its pilots such as skin examination using advanced dermatology scanners, virtual care and telemedicine services.

The details of the partnership and its investment structure will be finalized with a definitive agreement to be completed in early 2023. It is expected that up to two other strategic investors may participate in the investment of this project.

The Company also announces that it has issued a total of 1,450,000 options (“Options”) to directors, officers and consultants. Each option may acquire one common share of the Company at a price of $0.04 for a period of 5 years from the grant. Certain Options are fully vested in connection with the grant and Certain Options subject to vesting periods during the term of the Option.
