Alta Journal’s California Bestsellers List (November 2, 2022)

With reporting from the California Independent Booksellers Alliance, Alta Journal Bringing you a list of the best selling titles at independent bookstores in Northern and Southern California for the week ending October 30, 2022.

On this week’s list is the Rebecca Solnit paperback Orwell’s Rosesa new exploration of politics and agriculture e September 2021 California Book Club author. Solnit examines the life of George Orwell in a new way, from his little known journey in the coal mines of England to his involvement in farming. The Machineby Cormac McCarthy, evaluated by Alta, a new addition to the list. The book – the first of two related books – follows Bobby Western as he searches for the wreckage of a plane and investigates a government cover-up.
